Questions/Answers

Are all tennis courts compatible with the TWEENER® system?

TWEENER® is designed for courts (single or double) that are compliant with the AFNOR NF P90-110 2016/07 standard (standard dimensions of a single court: 36 x 18 m, enclosure on 4 sides of the court of at least 2.60 m). But TWEENER® may be specifically adapted for all types of courts (wall on one side, hand-railing or lateral opening, lack of enclosure or partial enclosure, longer or narrower court, etc.)

During the validation step of your project, our teams will ask you a few technical questions regarding the court where the product is to be installed, and request a few photos. These photos will allow identifying any specificities that require adjustment in your project to optimise the lighting quality of the court and to adapt it to possible technical, topographic, environmental, etc. constraints

Are TWEENER® lighting solutions eligible for subsidies granted by the French Tennis Federation?

TWEENER® is compliant with the AFNOR NF P90-110 2016/07 standard and meets all the requirements of the French Tennis Federation in terms of lighting of outdoor tennis courts. The average lighting level is 300 lux and the lighting uniformity coefficient is higher than 0.7. The installation of a TWEENER® lighting system can thus be perfectly integrated with the development project of your club, while availing of the bonuses granted by the French Tennis Federation, and other federations in certain countries. To know more about the conditions for subsidies that you may get, directly contact the advisor for your French Tennis Federation departmental committee.

Is it possible to light several courts at the same time using TWEENER®?

The Double TWEENER® solution was created to light 2 tennis courts simultaneously (both courts must be next to one another in a single grill enclosure). The Double TWEENER® is particularly suitable for academy courts (leisure or training).

Is it possible to personalise the installation of TWEENER® and the colour of the LED modules in particular?

Various options are available to personalise your installation or to adapt to possible constraints of your court (light extension for longer courts, wireless control, extended warranty, brightness gradation control, etc.). You can discover them on our site here.

The standard colours for the TWEENER® systems are Green (RAL 6005) or Black (RAL 9005). Customised colours are offered as an option. As this requires special manufacturing, they may require longer lead times.

Can the TWEENER® solution be installed on a covered tennis court?

TWEENER® is exclusively dedicated for lighting of outdoor tennis courts. However, with an experience of providing lighting solutions for more than 700 outdoor and indoor tennis courts across the globe, our company NLX and its teams can offer you an indoor lighting solution which is perfectly suited to your project (covered hall, canvas cover, permanent or detachable bubble dome).

Is it possible to install the product on an outdoor court which does not have partial enclosures, no enclosures at all, or non-standard poles?

It is totally possible to discuss the options for fitting a customised TWEENER® system on such a court. Our teams and installers can propose various technical solutions like attachment on walls, fabrication of customised poles, installation on low poles or poles with a specific circumference.

What does the tariff communicated by TWEENER® exactly include?

The displayed price includes the purchase of a complete TWEENER® lighting system and all the constituent pieces of equipment needed for its installation. It does not include a possible product installation service which may be provided by a company which is a member of our network of authorised installers. Our installers’ installation service does not include the possible works of electrical network extension to provide power supply to the court.

Who is in charge of the installation of TWEENER® equipment?

Our company NLX only provides the various components of the lighting system, i.e. the inter-connectable LED strips which are made using exclusive TWEENER® technology, and also the attachment accessories (support plate, connection plate, mounting flanges, and the miscellaneous necessary screws and bolts), electrical extensions, and lastly, the power supply unit. Moreover, we have a global network of authorised local partners trained by our teams which execute the installation of the TWEENER® lighting systems on most of the courts in question.

Is it possible to install a TWEENER® lighting system without relying on authorised installers?

There is no obligation to rely on a TWEENER® installer. However, even if the revolutionary design of these products has enormously facilitated and quickened the installation process as compared to our competitors, it requires certain technical expertise. The connection to the electrical network must, for example, be mandatorily established by a qualified and authorised electrician. In case of a clear problem with the installation having resulted in a problem or malfunctions of our system, the 5-year parts and labour warranty of our products may be affected. If you are a company or group that already has its technical services, we can offer you additional technical assistance for the installation or a local team to support your services.

How much time does it need to fit a court with TWEENER® lighting systems?

7 hours are sufficient with a team of 2 or 3 persons to install a complete TWEENER® system on a single or double court. These time periods are extraordinary compared with other products on the market that need several days or even weeks, and involve significantly higher costs.

Is TWEENER® compatible with ignition systems (switch, timer, coin mechanism)?

TWEENER® products were designed to be compatible with all ignition systems that are usually used by clubs.

How much power does a TWEENER® lighting system consume?

Your electricity bill is significantly reduced with TWEENER®! Only 2200 W to light 1 court, which is equal to the power consumption of one vacuum cleaner! One hour of using the system costs €0.38* (less than €0.80 per hour to light two courts).
* Based on an electricity tariff of €0.174 per kWh.

What is the service life of a TWEENER® lighting system?

Our installations have a 5-year parts and labour warranty (factory return). The average service life of the premium LEDs that are fitted in our strips is 50,000 hours, which means nearly 35 years, assuming an average use of 4 hours a day.

What happens if an LED malfunctions?

Once a malfunction is observed, the defective module is immediately replaced.

Are TWEENER® lighting systems resistant to humidity, dust, and impacts?

Our LED modules are 100% sealed: they are fitted with a breathing gland to prevent condensation and the formation of mist to preserve optimal lighting conditions in all seasons. They also have a IP65 rating which guarantees total dust protection.
A polycarbonate plate provides structural protection to the LEDs against impacts (impact resistance index IK08). It has anti-UV protection so that its appearance is not affected over time.

Does the TWEENER® system have theft protection?

Yes it does. The LED modules are inter-connected at the time of assembly and are fixed to mesh poles using secured stop nuts, making a possible attempt at disassembly by a non-specialist a very cumbersome process. The significant length of a module (3.80 m) makes it particularly difficult to move the system, knowing that a module by itself is unusable, and needs to be connected to the entire system to function.
